Robert Mercadante

Upon finishing up at Kean University Robert Mercadante began working for his family business as Vice President of JM Mercadante Incorporated, a construction and development company that was based in South Orange. JM Mercadante’s primary business focus was building roads, land development, excavating, and paving both residential and commercial. Robert ran JM Mercadante with his brother, Joseph Mercadante, from 1985 to 2011. In 1992 Robert changed the direction of the construction company to specialize in golf course construction. From 1992 to 2002 the company excelled in the golf course business. Working on various golf course projects and working with some of the premier golf course architects
such as Reese Jones and Tom Fazio. Amongst our main customers were American Golf Corporation, Canoe Brook Country Club, Rock Spring Country Club, and numerous others. In 2002 Robert and Joe opened Dante management company that consisted of approximately 35 apartment buildings that they owned in Essex, Morris, and Sussex counties. The core business focus was managing real estate holdings consisting of mixed use, residential, and commercial investments. While managing the real estate holdings, Robert used his construction skills to maintain the buildings. During this time Robert continued as Vice President of the construction company. The management company was in operation from 2002-2011. In 2012 Robert managed multiple real estate projects. In addition, he designed and built five Strawberry Fields stores,

a self-serve frozen yogurt establishment. He sold his last store in Maplewood in 2022. In 2017 Robert sub-divided, obtained approvals, and built a 4500 square foot colonial home in Morristown. The house was sold in 2018. Upon completion of this project Robert decided to continue building and working in general
contracting, and he recently partnered with his cousin, Dave, to open Cousin’s Building and Development.
In summary, Robert has spent his professional career in construction, renovations, and building. He plans to continue to provide quality construction to help his customers build and renovate their dream homes.
